Lucien den Arend chose this location, on the outer side of the dike, The tide comes and goes making the osier culture possible. It is all about the branches and twigs which are used for many purposes. The willows are grown by sticking a branch into the earth at random distances. The pollard willows are cut every three or four years depending on what thickness is needed. The visual effect is a very organic one.
